High Altitude, Rock & Ski Touring

Raised near the Andes in Santiago, Martín has guided professionally since 2017 and taught mountaineering skills since 2022. His work combines high-altitude expedition leadership with technical rock, glacier, and ski-touring experience.

He has led ascents in Peru's Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash, guided alpine and glacier objectives across Chilean and Argentine Patagonia, and managed expeditions on major peaks in Chile's Central Andes.

Martín's approach emphasizes careful risk management, strong technical systems, environmental stewardship, and memorable mountain experiences.

  • IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide, certified through the Peruvian Mountain School (CEAM/AGMP), 2022.
  • International Wilderness First Responder, University of Colorado, 2024.
  • Training in crevasse rescue techniques, pulley systems, leadership, group management, and risk communication.
  • Mountaineering instructor for Chile's UIAGM training program, RAMUCH courses, and private groups.

Experience

  • Led technical ascents of Huascarán, Alpamayo, Chopicalqui, and Artesonraju in Peru.
  • Guided Guillaumet, Aguja de la S, Gorra Blanca, and ice tours in the Fitz Roy Massif and Southern Patagonian Icefield.
  • Led expeditions on Cerro El Plomo, Marmolejo, Volcán San José, and El Morado in Chile's Central Andes.
  • Climbed and guided several routes in Cochamó Valley.
